What Determines What Dental Implants Will Cost You?

Dental implants have a lot to offer as a method of tooth replacement. They routinely last well over 30 years, providing patients with incredible aesthetics and a strong bite during that time. It’s no exaggeration to say that they are the premium tooth replacement option.

While most patients can get excited at that prospect, they tend to be a bit less enthused about paying premium prices. Dental implants can certainly be affordable, but you may have to think a little bit about how to make the dental work fit your budget.

If you’re in the planning stage of dental implants, here are some of the most common factors that affect the treatment’s overall cost.

Preliminary Procedures

Compared to other methods of tooth replacement, dental implants are unusually reliant on the strength of the jaw. If yours has degraded over time, a bone graft or sinus lift may be necessary. It can also be problematic to place dental implants if you’re currently dealing with gum disease, which means that gum disease therapy is often necessary before receiving dental implants.

When budgeting for your dental implant procedure, it’s often a good idea to think a little bit about the preliminary procedures you could need and what they’ll cost you.

Brand of Implant

Just like anything else, there are various different brands of dental implants. Each one has a slightly different reputation and price point, and while it can be a little bit difficult to determine which one’s best for you on your own, a dentist would usually be happy to talk to you about the various options available to you.

Materials & Restoration

Then there’s the material that your dental implant is actually made from. Typically, dental implants come in three parts, with the post and abutment almost always being made from titanium. However, there can be a little bit of variety in the restoration you use.

This restoration is what’s meant to actually simulate the teeth, and can consist of either a crown, bridge, or denture. Generally speaking, restorations that replace more teeth are more expensive, requiring a greater number of implants to support them.
